colour/numerical display settings

[Archived phorum post from squ1.com v2 by clarice]

Hi,

Can anybody help me with the numerical display settings, I think some of them are not working for me because....

1) Static rays can't be displayed in "absolute values" nor "relative to direct" colour scales, only in "reflection depth".

2) Reflector coverage can't be displayed in "reflection depth" colour scale, everytime I change the colour display mode to reflection depth Ecotect displays the "relative to direct" colour scale, why is this happenning?

3) I'm having difficulty in visualizing numerical values as when I click the "dB levels" or "delays" in the numerical scale nothing seems to happen in the mode. I can only display numerical values when I set "reflector coverage". Why this is happenning?

Can anybody give me a hand on this?

Thanks in advance

Hi Clarice,

OK, questions 1 and 2 seem to be right - ECOTECT does show static rays only in reflection depth and the total 'relative to direct' value after it has fully decayed. I will need to fix this in the next verison, however its not actually wrong - that is the colour of each ray after its full travel path. I should make it clearer - so that it works the same as the animated ray colours.

The numeric values will only work in the Reflector Coverage, Animated Particle and Animated Rays display. Basically, values can only be displayed at a single point in the ray's history, so you need a display where there is only one focus point for each ray. This way you can actually animate the rays and watch the numeric values update as the rays move around.

Hope that helps...

Andrew

Thanks Andrew,

Now I understand. I just thought that the numerical display would appear, if set, showing the final result, that is the amount of dB from the last reflection set.
