QUESTION:
I need to reference the source of the weather data used for my analysis. Can you please tell me where the data available on your web site comes from ?
ANSWER:
In the main the data are test reference years of data, but we really can't be specific as the data has been collected over many years and at various times...
Having said that, some has been generated using Meteonorm, which tends to produce sometimes unrealistic data depending on the location, relative to a site with actual data. You can usually tell Meteonorm data as it has strange looking wind data, usually from only 3 specific directions on the wind rose (mainly with European locations).
Generally speaking the data has been collected and converted with the help of students and colleagues and thus the exact data sources are not readily available to us (otherwise we would have specified). The data provided on our Weather Data page, is really meant as a resource to get users started...
We are working on ways of maintaining the pedigree of weather data as the Weather Tool develops but at the moment this is not really possible.
