Dear All,
I have been a user of Ecotect since 2003 when I did my MSc in Cardiff University. Currently I am doing research for my PhD and have these questions/requests;
1) Please give me the updated void material properties for v5.6. My model with no windows still generate light when void was inserted.
2) Effect of sunshading to the internal temperature. When I did the three case studies using Ecotect v5.0 for my MSc dissertation (Villa Shodan, Keck's house and Can Lis house) the internal temperature decreased when sunshadings were introduced. But now when I tried v5.5 and v5.6 the internal temperature increases! I did what was suggested, putting the sunshading in a non-thermal zone and offset it out at least 100mm from the surface.
3) The simulated internal temperature is more logical using v5.2 especially if lots of glazings were used. For v5.5 and v5.6, an internal temperature for an atrium in Malaysia is more than 70 degrees Celcius at 2 pm and less than 3 degrees at midnight! (I used downloaded Malaysian weather file from energyplus website).
4) The Ecotect simulated daylighting is too high sometimes up to 4000lux. The result is acceptable when I ran the script file that Caroline gave but all materials have the same reflectance 0.9 even for void. I used Radiance but the output image is too basic. For example how do I know a lux value at a certain point (Ecotect has this option). And Radiance colour is a variation of greens which is not very good analysis to know detail.
Your help is greatly appreciated and my gratitude in advance (it was easier in those days when I can just drop by Dr. Marsh's office or Caroline's to ask questions).
Thank you and best regards,
Nor Shahrene
