Energy Modelling

Hi All,

I am a mechanical engineer working in New Zealand. I am currently trying to use Ecotect to calculate annual energy use of an office building. I saw in one of the dicussion fourms resource consumption is reccomended.

I am having a few problems using that:

1. The graph scale is completley irrelevant to the results. I tried changing the scales but with no luck

2. In Daily energy use, The wh values are completely wrong. For example for 1 simple light, with 1 watt; i get 79 wh for 24 hours and not 24 wh which should make more sense. No schedule was used. When i use a schedule the number changes but it still doesnt make much sense.

3. In hourly energy use, I get two spikes at 12am and 3am and the rest is zero !! ( as if light is on only at 12 and 3 and off the rest of the day)

The model will have many light fixtures, printers, computers and more But i cant go into that when the numbers for 1 bulb dont make sense

There is not much information on the website or help files (none that i can find anyway)

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Kind regards,
Sherif Badran

Hi Sherif.

Firstly, can I ask you not to post multiple copies of your questions in the forum (I have deleted your other versions) -- using a good descriptive subject line will be the best tool for ensuring other users look at your post (if they think they can help with it).

As to your questions, a lot of what you ask is a bit hard to work out without looking at your model -- any chance you can attach it to your post so we can have a look at it ?

As to not much information or help files, you need to look at the Square One Wiki for the most up-to-date material / tutorials etc. and the help file that comes with ECOTECT (from Help menu in software) which in itself is over 900 pages long!

Please search before posting a question.

Thanks so much for that,
